Now join in an accent color that you want on the bottom of your hat! Make one more round of SC’s along entire edge of hat and earflaps. This should be the same color as the horns.
Braided Tails: Cut 2 long strands of each color used in hat (6 strands total). Pass through last space in earflap and loop or knot to secure. You should now have 12 strands to braid with
Braid approx 5.5 inches long, knot, trim ends.
Horns:
Magic Ring, chain 1 and make 6 SC in ring, join, chain 1
Round 2: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (6 SC)

Round 6: 2 SC in first stitch, SC in next 5, repeat around, join (14 SC)
Fasten off leaving long tail.
Stitch 2 or 3 horns onto each hat. Lay hat flat and work your tapestry need through the edge stitches of hat (starting at about round 3) and bottom edge of horns until it is secured onto side of hat.
Cartoon Eyes:
You can find the free pattern for my Crochet Cartoon Eyes HERE! Make them in a variety of colors and sizes. Pair the smaller size and bigger size together. Add an additional round of SC stitches to the original eye to make it a bit larger: 2 SC in first, SC in next, repeat around.
You can make a one-eyed monster, two-eyed, or three-eyed monster! How about 4 eyes?!

Smiley Mouth: Make a starting chain with black yarn as long or short as you’d like. Anywhere between 12- 30 chain stitches. Fasten off and stitch on to hat into a smile.
Tooth: With white yarn, Chain 5, HDC in 3rd chain from hook and in the last two chains. Fasten off and stitch tooth onto hat under smile. Make it crooked!
There will be lots of ends to weave in, but it will be worth it!

It took me about an hour to attach all the embellishments. Phew! I think I am done making monster hats for awhile but I can’t wait to see yours!
