8 Sunrays – Crochet Quiet Book Page 8

Page 8 is great! 8 Sunrays are beaming bright! You only need one color of yarn to make simple shapes. This page is probably the easiest to work up! Unfortunately there are a few ends to weave in.

I am making an Earth Day Crochet Counting Quiet Book! It will have a total of 10 pages and I will be posting each page separately in a series of 10 blog posts and then one final post to showcase the whole book and how to put it together. They will all be posted in time for Earth Day on April 22nd!

You can also use these “pages” as granny squares and create a blanket instead! Finished size of the pages/squares are approx 9×9.

Materials:
– Bernat Super Value in Bright Yellow and Natural. Shop all colors HERE on Yarnspirations.com
– Size H Crochet Hook
– Tapestry Needle

First you will want to make the book page:

Crochet Book Page:
with natural yarn (or any color of your choosing)
Chain 31, SC in second chain from hook and the rest of the way down chain, chain 1, turn (30 SC)
Row 2-35: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Center Circle of the sun:
with yellow
Magic Ring, chain 2 and make 12 DC in ring, join, chain 2
Round 2: 2 DC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (24 DC)
Round 3: 2 SC in each stitch around, join, fasten off leaving long tail (48 SC)

Small Sunrays (make 4):
with yellow yarn
Chain 9, Slip stitch in second chain from hook, SC in next two, HDC in next, DC in next 3, TC in last, fasten off leaving long tail

Large Sunrays (make 4):
with yellow yarn
Chain 12, slip stitch in second chain from hook, SC in next two, HDC in next two, DC in next 3, TC in last 3, fasten off leaving long tail.

Alternate the large and small sunrays around the center circle when stitching them on your page.

Number 8:
Chain 24 and shape into a figure 8. Stitch on with tapestry needle.
