7 Raindrops! And a cute little umbrella applique to jazz up page number 7! I know a few of you were upset that page 6 (6 Rainbow Colors) wasn’t scientifically correct, so please feel free to swap page 6 and 7! You can easy make 6 raindrops and then add in indigo yarn to make a 7th color in the rainbow
I am making an Earth Day Crochet Counting Quiet Book! It will have a total of 10 pages and I will be posting each page separately in a series of 10 blog posts and then one final post to showcase the whole book and how to put it together. They will all be posted in time for Earth Day on April 22nd!
You can also use these “pages” as granny squares and create a blanket instead! Finished size of the pages/squares are approx 9×9.
Materials:
– Bernat Super Value yarn in Peacock Blue, Light Damsen Purple, Heather Gray, and Peach for the background. Shop all colors on Yarnspirations.com!
– Size H Crochet Hook
– Tapestry Needle
First you will want to make the book page:
Crochet Book Page:
with peach yarn (or any color of your choosing)
Chain 31, SC in second chain from hook and the rest of the way down chain, chain 1, turn (30 SC)
Row 2-35: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Raindrop Pattern:
with blue yarn
Magic Ring, chain 1 and make 6 SC in ring, join to first SC, chain 1
Round 2: 2 SC in each stitch around, join (12 SC)
Round 3: Chain 3, SC in second chain from hook, HDC in last chain, skip a stitch from Round 2 and join to the next stitch (this makes it look like a droplet!)
Fasten off leaving long tail to stitch raindrops onto crochet page

Umbrella Applique:
With purple (or umbrella color of your choosing)
Chain 15, SC in second chain from hook and the rest of the way down, chain 1, turn (14 SC)
Row 2: SC Decrease, SC in next 10, SC Decrease over last two, chain 1, turn
Row 3: SC Decrease, SC in next 8, SC Decrease over last two, chain 1, turn
Row 4: SC Decrease, SC in next 6, SC Decrease over last two, chain 1, turn
Row 5: SC Decrease, SC in next 4, SC Decrease over last two, chain 1, turn
Row 6: SC Decrease, SC in next 2, SC Decrease over last two, chain 1, turn
Row 7: Make two SC Decrease (do not turn), chain 1 and begin to SC on the sides of the umbrella, when you get to the first corner on the bottom, chain 2 and make a SC in the second chain from hook, continue to SC along bottom edge for 4 stitches, then chain 2 and make a SC in second chain from hook, SC in next 4, chain 2 and make a SC in second chain from hook, SC in last 4 stitches on bottom edge, chain 2 and make a SC in second chain from hook, SC up the other side of the umbrella and join to the SC Decrease at the top.
Now surface slip stitch two lines from top corners to the two umbrella points at the bottom.
See video tutorial below to clear up any confusion!
