Crochet Stingray – Under the Sea CAL Bonus Square 2

Stitch up this simple Stingray and add it to your Under the Sea Crochet Blanket as an extra square or use it as one of your main 12 squares!

Let me introduce you to the FREE 2024 Under the Sea Crochet-Along!
Every month in 2024 I will be crocheting an adorable ocean creatures that will fit on a crochet square that looks like a water bubble. At the end of the year I will stitch all 12 squares together to make a blanket. There will be 3 bonus patterns as well!

Materials:
– Red Heart Super Saver in color Dusty Gray.
You can shop all shades of Red Heart Yarn HERE on Yarnspirations.com.
– Long strand of black yarn for the eyes/mouth and pink for the cheeks (optional)
– Size H Crochet Hook
– Tapestry Needle

Stingray:
Chain 13, SC in second chain from hook and the rest of the way down chain, chain 1, turn (12 SC)
Row 2: 2 SC in first, SC in next 10, 2 SC in last, chain 1, turn
Row 3: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn (14 SC)
Row 4: 2 SC in first, SC in next 12, 2 SC in last, chain 1, turn
Row 5: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn (16 SC)
Row 6: 2 SC in first, SC in next 14, 2 SC in last, chain 1, turn
Row 7: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn (18 SC)
Row 8: 2 SC in first, SC in next 16, 2 SC in last, chain 1, turn
Row 9: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn (20 SC)
Row 10: 2 SC in first, SC in next 18, 2 SC in last, chain 1, turn
Row 11: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn (22 SC)
Row 12: 2 SC in first, SC in next 20, 2 SC in last, chain 1, turn
Row 13: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn (24 SC)
Row 14: 2 SC in first, SC in next 22, 2 SC in last, chain 1, turn
Row 15: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn (26 SC)
Row 16: 2 SC in first, SC in next 24, 2 SC in last, chain 1, turn
Row 17: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn (28 SC)
Row 18: 2 SC in first, SC in next 24, 2 SC in last, chain 1, turn
Row 19-20: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn (30 SC)
Row 21: 6 DC in first stitch, DC in next 3, HDC in next, SC in next 22, HDC in next, DC in next 3, 6 DC in last, continue to SC around edges of stingray, when you get to the middle of the back lets make the tail, chain 13, SC in 3rd chain from hook and next 4, HDC in next 2, DC in remaining chains, join back to edge of stingray, continue to SC along the remaining edges and join to first DC made. Fasten off leaving long tail.

With long strand of black yarn and tapestry needle, stitch on two small eyes on row 14 bout 4 stitches apart and small smile the row below the eyes.

Optional: stitch the pink yarn below the eyes and on either side of mouth for little cheeks.

Lay the stingray on your bubble square and flold up the corners that have the 6 DC in them so it looks like its swimming.
