Bernat Baby Velvet Crochet Bunny

Yarnspirations has done it again with another super cute pattern that I HAD to get on my hook! This Bernat Baby Velvet Crochet Bunny pattern is so soft and adorable using the luxurious Bernat Baby Velvet Yarn that doesn’t pill or shed. It’s worsted weight and machine washable and the bonus is that you will use less than a half skein of each color for this project! So you could easily make more than one bunny from the same skein! I used a Size H Crochet Hook for my version and it came out to be approximately 20 inches tall by 12 inches wide.

I chose colors Bunny Brown (how perfect is that?!) and Misty Green (similar to Seafoam green). But there are so many color combinations that you could use! Shop all 11 shades HERE on Yarnspirations.com!

The pattern stitches up very quick and easy! I love this yarn because if you make a mistake, miscount, or just don’t have a consistent tension, it doesn’t matter. The stitches blend together so well with this velvety yarn! You will work for the legs up and stuff as you go. I used safety eyes in my version and had a little bit of pink yarn left over from my Bernat Velvet Bear that I was able to use for the bunny nose. When I finished, Zoe told me that the bunny needed clothes… So of course I had to stitch up a little jumper dress! Pattern for the dress is written below.

Bunny Jumper Dress Pattern:
Chain 41, SC in second chain from hook and the rest of the way down chain, chain 1, turn (40 SC)
Row 2: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn
Row 3: 2 SC in first stitch, SC in each stitch across until last stitch, 2 SC in last, chain 1, turn (42 SC)
Row 4: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn (42 SC)
Row 5: 2 SC in first stitch, SC in each stitch across until last stitch, 2 SC in last, chain 1, turn (44 SC)
Row 6-11: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn
Now we are going to work in rounds
Round 12: 2 SC in each stitch across, join to first SC so you join your rows into a round (do not turn), chain 1
Round 13-22: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn (88 SC)
Fasten off weave in ends
Now lets make the straps:
Count 16 stitch in from top of dress, join in yarn and chain 16, SC in each stitch down chain and join to top of dress. Do this to make both straps. You should have about 8 stitches in between your straps on the front of the dress.

Using 4 small 1/2 inch buttons, you will want to sew two of them so you can close the back of the dress (depending on how much you stuff the bunny belly will determine how snug or loose you will want to close the back of the dress). Then sew two more buttons just a few rows up from where the skirt starts to attach the straps. Below is a picture of the back of the dress. I criss-crossed the straps. The buttons should easily fit through your SC stitches.
