Here is the 2nd page in my Earth Day Crochet Quiet Book: 2 Birds!
This page features two cute little chirping birds perched on a branch. You might recognize these little birdies. They are the Nightingales from my Animal Alphabet Applique series!
I am making an Earth Day Crochet Counting Quiet Book! It will have a total of 10 pages and I will be posting each page separately in a series of 10 blog posts and then one final post to showcase the whole book and how to put it together. They will all be posted in time for Earth Day on April 22nd!
You can also use these “pages” as granny squares and create a blanket instead!
I am using Bernat Super Value because of it’s wide range of colors (53 colors to choose from!) and because its a very sturdy worsted weight yarn. You will want to start shopping and stocking up HERE at Yarnspirations.com.
Materials:
– Bernat Super Value in Sky Blue, Taupe Brown, Oatmeal (Cream), Pumpkin Orange, Lush Green, and a bit of yellow for the beaks.

– Size H Crochet Hook
– Tapestry Needle
Crochet Book Page:
with sky blue color yarn
Chain 31, SC in second chain from hook and the rest of the way down chain, chain 1, turn (30 SC)
Row 2-35: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn
Fasten off and weave in ends.
First you will want to make the book “page” or the background square (whichever you want to refer to it as). The dimensions of each square are approximately 9×9 (actually mine is more like 8.75 x 8.75) which is a great size for a granny square or book page!
Branch:
With brown yarn
Chain 31, Slip Stitch in 2nd chain from hook, SC in next 9, HDC in next 6, 2 HDC in next, HDC in next, DC in last 11, fasten off leaving long tail to stitch branch onto crocheted page.

Leaves (make two):
NOTE: use different hook sizes to make larger or smaller leaves.

Number 2:
Chain 18 and shape in number 2.
Stitch all of your pieces onto the crocheted page using your tapestry needle.
