I snuck in one more Bernat Blanket Yarn project for June! Unintentionally, I ended up working with this yarn all month! It really is addicting because of the soft chenille texture and the super chunky weight means projects work up quickly and turn out cute and squishy! I spotted this ADORABLE Ladybug in the Yarnspirations June Lookbook “Pic-Knit.” It was part of the Bernat Lil Leaf Crochet Play Mat & Ladybug Toy pattern. I decided to take the ladybug part of the pattern and make into a cute little purse for my 4-year-old daughter Zoe! I followed the free pattern as written on the Yarnspirations website and added a strap to turn it into a purse!
As I mentioned above, you can find the Ladybug pattern in the Yarnspirations June Lookbook “Pic-Knit.” HERE is the direct link to the Lil Leaf Crochet Play Mat & Ladybug Toy. Follow the pattern as written! you will make a top and bottom to the lady bug. I saved the legs for last, but you could go ahead and add them as the pattern suggests.
I used Bernat Blanket Brights yarn in Race Car Red and Black. You only need a bit of Red and barely a half skein of black.
Strap Pattern:
chain 4, SC in second chain from hook and last two chains, chain 1, turn
Round 2-85: SC in each stitch across (3 SC)
Fasten off leaving long tail.
Stitch ends of strap together so its a big circle.
Stitch lady bug pieces to edges of strap, leaving the top of the lady bug open.
I have to mention that I really love these NO-SEW googly eyes! I had never seen these before! I found them at JOANNs and I love how they have a little button-like back pieces that allows you to sew it onto your project.
